We all see the commercials, Youtube videos, and the ads on social media, but is it really worth it? Is the product truly better than the others? Today we are going to talk about 5 BEAUTY HACKS that can save you time and money!
- Skin Care
- Hair Care
- The HOLY GRAIL
When you are shopping for products, train your eye to the bottom shelf. Retail stores place the more expensive products at eye level.
Instead of big box cosmetic stores, or even drug stores, try looking at the dollar store first! Believe it or not, some dollar stores carry BRAND NAME beauty products. Dollar stores get their supply from big box stores that either ordered too much product, or are having a hard time selling that particular product. Snag some mean deals at the dollar store when you can, your wallet will thank you!
Have you ever tried looking to your kitchen for your skin care needs? Believe it or not there are a number of benefits in the things you already have in your refrigerator or pantry.
- Lemon can be used as a toner
- Olive oil can be used as a makeup remover
- Used coffee grounds can be used to exfoliate your skin
- Reduce puffy eyes with cool cucumber slices
- Reduce redness, irritation, and inflammation with turmeric
What is worse than getting in the shower before your big date and realizing you are out of shaving cream? Do you deal with hairy legs, or do you suffer with razor burn. Not to fear, baby oil is here. Baby oil is a great alternative to shaving creams. If you don’t have baby oil in your arsenal, try conditioner!
Make your hair color last longer. Skip a wash (or two, we wont tell) and use dry shampoo to combat oily hair.
Pro tip: Make your own dry shampoo! For lighter colors use a little bit of corn starch at the roots of your hair and comb through. If you have darker hair, just mix a little cocoa powder to the corn starch!
Hair cuts are a necessity at some point, but can be brutally expensive. If you don’t have any friends or family with their cosmetology license to give you a quick snip, try looking into beauty schools or salons with internships. These places will provide services at a discount! Don’t worry, someone is there to supervise to make sure you don’t come out looking like Edward Scissor Hands just got through with you…unless you’re into that.
Don’t throw away your used containers. You can reuse them for travel, DIY projects, or if you wanna get a little crazy and try to make your own beauty product! Some stores will even provide you a discount for bringing in your used containers!!!
Don’t throw out your broken makeup. Yes, its a sad day when your favorite shade of eye shadow falls to the floor and shatters. However there are numerous ways to fix these products. Mix with a little water and place it back in the container. After it dries, like magic, its good as new!
You can even re-purpose broken or mostly used makeup to create different DIY products. A little bit of crushed up blush left in your compact? Grind it up super fine and mix it with a clear nail polish. Fancy new DIY nail color that you CUSTOM MADE!
Tan faded and now your foundation doesn’t mach you skin tone? No problem! Mix it with a little moisturizer to lighten it up to your desired shade!
Clumpy mascara is the worst, however an easy fix! Add a little contact solution to the bottle, and its good as new.
Pro tip: Don’t pump your mascara, it drys out you mascara faster!
